About us
The Marula Company was established in 2012 as a small enterprise connecting various people in the Marula industry to each other.
This unique wild african fruit, found in abundance in sub-saharan africa, has not been researched and developed to its full potential. For the past few years, The Marula Company, various individuals, Universities and communities took great strides in commercially utilize the marula fruit and all its uses.
Up to date The Marula Company is still involved in the development of natural skincare and body products as well as manufacturing of industrial equipment to commercially harvest and produce high-quality organic marula oil and products.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The Marula Company is proud in supporting villages in the areas of Phalaborwa, Phalabeni, Selwane, Hoedspruit, and Acornhoek where we have registered harvesters. 98% of the ladies live in 5 different municipal areas of Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Our harvests are conducted under a sustainable harvest plan with a benefit sharing permit in place (BABS) and are based on a willing buyer willing seller agreement
We get involved by building jungle gyms at several creches in our greater marula area, we also developed a special edition marula glycerine soap with free bracelet to empower the community against poverty.
We also care about our nature, our rhinos and elephants by supporting Kruger National Park Honorary rangers efforts in fundraisings. For the last 5 years we host traditional Christmas parties for the Kruger National Park rangers and their children in certain regions.
Fore generations, marula has been of great social and cultural importance for rural people living throughout the region. With numerous local traditional uses, it is regarded with great respect for it's nutritional, medicinal and spiritual significance. The Marula Company replant minimum of 200 marula trees from our nursery every year, to make sure that the Marula tree is will be around for many years to come.
